Access to clean and reliable water remains one of the biggest challenges facing many rural communities in Kenya. In areas like Machakos County, families often walk long distances every day in search of water for drinking, cooking, and farming.
This daily struggle affects not only health but also education and economic productivity. Children sometimes miss school to help fetch water, while women spend hours each day walking to distant water sources.
At Empowerment of Youth & Women Ecosystem Sustainability (EYWES), we believe that access to water is a fundamental human right. Through community partnerships, we work to drill boreholes and establish sustainable water solutions that provide safe and reliable water sources.
Clean water transforms communities in many ways. It improves public health by reducing waterborne diseases, allows children to focus on their education, and enables farmers to increase agricultural productivity.
When a community gains access to clean water, the entire ecosystem of development begins to flourish.
